may meeting

The day started really wet and thundery for the May meeting of Itchen Valley Lacemakers.
But the atmosphere in the hall was bright and cheery.
There were about 40-45 ladies . . and Christopher all making lace, knitting or beading.
We also had 3 new members which is always nice to see.
We had a lovely lady called Jan teaching 8 of us how to make silk paper.
The aim of the day was to make a notebook or notepad cover.
Only Launa finished a book, we were enjoying the process of actually making the silk paper so much that we kept making more pieces.
We painted, sprinkled and sprayed away all morning and half the afternoon. . . it was great.
Keep scrolling down to see some of our lovely 'papers'.
All the paper was so different to each other but it was all fab, i look forward to finishing my books

march meeting

On Saturday it was our March meeting. (we always meet on the first Sat of each month)

it was a beautiful sunny day. There was about 40 ladies and 1 gentleman plus 13 on the workshop.

the workshop was the second part of a goldwork design by Shelley Cox .

We had all done our homework so we were ready for the second part.

at about 11.30 several of the ladies disappeared outside to watch the passing of a Spitfire.

it was the 75 th anniversary. It is a beautiful aeroplane.

Nobody finished the workshop but we didn't expect to as there is a lot of work to do. Everyone's embroidery was a different colour and they all looked wonderful.

There were lots of other lovely crafts being done as well here are some pics.

january meeting

hi world
we had our january meeting yesterday, (saturday)
thankfully the weather was much kinder this month.

we had about 45 -50 people there which is very good for this time of year. we had a lovely workshop planned with the embroiderer Shelley Cox teaching us her beautifull paisley goldwork pattern.
we will be finishing it at the march meeting as there is quite a lot of 'homework' to do.

she also had some ribbon embroidery scissor keepers

as well, which 4 ladies did.

There was a lot of different crafts being done this month, including knitting, cross stitch, beading and even some lace making

the piece below is a beautifull piece of rosaline lae by judith who is currently writing a book about it. she is going to be telling us about the book etc at our lace day next month. the pattern she is doing is the strawberry design from the group logo.

also at the meeting was the finished group project we have been working on.it is a mixed media picture for the honey pot house charity. it includes lace, beading, patchwork, quilting, wood turning, goldwork and painting.
thanks to terena for putting it all together and having it framed. it looks great and will be presented to them soon

looking forward to next month.
looking forward to hearing from other members too
