cancelled meeting

hi world

unfortunately our december meeting was cancelled as we had about 8"of snow. it was a great shame because we had lots of lovely mini worshops planned, they will have to keep for next year.

at our next meeing we have Shelley Cox comig to steach us her beautiful Paisley goldwork design. this is a two part piece but with a couple of months between it gives you plenty of time to do the homework for the second half. here is a picture of the piece, anyone interested contact marry booy or amanda binns to book a place.

sorry about the picture quality i think i took it with my phone!!

that didn't work i will try again

september meeting

Hi everyone,
today was the september meeting of the group.
The meeting was attended by about 50 or so members, most were doing their own thing; a lot of lacemaking (no really!), there was also some ladies knitting, cross stitch and beading (quite a lot of beading).
7 of us were booked on to the workshop, we have them most months.
Shelley Cox was teaching a canvaswork with beads workshop. We could either make it into a mobile phone holder or scissor keeper.
As i have so many scissors for all sorts of functions I decided to make that
The pattern was very similar for both pieces.
Below are Shelley's examples

Sorry about the poor quality of the picture I forgot my camera and had to use my phone instead, late in the afternoon the light was fading. I should finish mine tonight or tomorrow so the pictures will be better.
There was also lots of other crafty stuff going on, but as i said earlier i forgot my camera so pics will have to wait 'till next time

welcome

Welcome to the world of the itchen valley lacemakers.

We are a group of about 90 ladies (and 1 gentleman) of varying ages and abilities who make lace and other crafts including beading, knitting, embroidery, tatting, cross stitch and felting etc.

We meet in Southampton on the 1st saturday of each month. Most months we hold a workshop taught by experienced tutors. Twice a year we have lace days where we have guest speakers and lacemaking suppliers.

We also hold raffles and collect money for local charities. This year we are collecting for a Southampton community playlink (formally the toy library). In the past we have collected for, amongst others, first responders, breast cancer care and childrens hospices.

As a group we are also producing a specially designed piece of mixed media (mostly lace) picture to be donated to Honey Pot House childrens hospice, which will be displayed in their family room. A picture will follow when available.
Hopefully members will share their art work with you in the future. For more details e mail janet at ivlacemakers@hotmail.co.uk
